Artist’s Point is an overlook on the Yellowstone River within what is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone”. Best viewed at sunrise when the sunlight highlights the minerals in the soil and outlines the steam rising from thermal vents.
Delicate Arch is the most famous arch in Arches National Park, it is featured on Utah’s license plate and used as a symbol of the park itself. Formed of Entrada sandstone, erosion has reduced the rock formation to its current size.
Contrary to popular belief, arches aren’t the only thing to see in Arches National Park. These rock formations are the tail end of the formation called Wall Street.
The Badlands of South Dakota separate the lower and upper plains of prairie. Homesteaders would be required to find passes through the Badlands in order to transition between the prairies.
